			<description>Dr Sprung and Denise Sprung submitted the results of a study “To Assess the Effect of the Rice Diet on Obese Patients with the Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)” to the American College of Gastroenterology for presentation at the national meeting later in 2010. Conclusions were that the Rice Diet was successful in eliminating up to 90% of IBS symptoms within 2-4 weeks of starting the diet. Most patients were able to discontinue their medications, or at least decrease the need to use medications, and there were sustained benefits up to 8 weeks on a modified diet. It seems that there may be a role for treating motivated patients with IBS with short courses of the Rice Diet instead of medications. Further studies are planned...</description>
