The Rice Diet will be administered and medically supervised by Dr. Douglas Sprung, as an extension of the dietary management of obesity and other medical illnesses, provided through the Gastroenterology Group.

The World Famous Rice Diet Now Here in Central Florida

If you are living in the Central Florida area, you may be eligible for a special modified version of the original Rice Diet program at a markedly reduced cost.

If you are overweight and are being treated for high blood pressure, heart failure, coronary artery disease, high cholesterol or triglycerides, diabetes, kidney disease, arthritis, difficulty breathing, or gastro esophageal reflux, you may benefit greatly from the Rice Diet, and should be able to reduce or eliminate many or all of your current medications.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ONCE WEEKLY PROGRAM:

• To introduce a life-style change that can make you healthier, happier and full of energy while losing weight and reducing medications.
• Learn how to begin a modified Rice Diet in a group setting, with detailed instructions, written information, as well as structured lectures.
• Sign up for a minimum 4 week program, but the program can extend indefinitely until the ideal weight and medical benefits are achieved.
• To give the 30-50% of Americans that are overweight or obese an opportunity to get control of their lives and medical status, and regain and preserve a state of good health.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Complete physical exam and baseline blood work to evaluate you for the diet program (would be covered by insurance).
2. An agreement to have blood and urine tested every 1-2 weeks initially, and an office visit with Dr. Sprung every 2 weeks (would be covered by insurance).
3. A minimum commitment to 4 weeks of hourly lectures, once weekly.

COSTS:

• Initial exam and subsequent visits in office – covered by insurance, once co-pays and deductibles have been met.  Patient is responsible for co-pay at time of service.
• Labs: blood and urine testing, will be filed with insurance, and can be done at a lab of your choice.
• 4 weeks of hourly sessions of lectures and instructional written materials given by Dr. Sprung and staff, is $140.00 (cash or check only) payable prior to the first lecture.  No refunds for missed classes.
• Future costs would be $140.00 monthly, and office visit every 2 weeks (cost would be co-pay amount or amount of deductible only).
